Architecture and design house Perkins+Will has appointed Martin Smith as a corporate interiors director for its growing Dubai office.
Smith will be responsible for expanding the 2,200-person strong firm's corporate interior design business in the GCC, notably Saudi Arabia, by winning and implementing fit-out and commercial design contracts.
He will report directly to Perkins+Will's managing director, Roger Wilson.
Smith is the latest senior appointment to the company's team in the Middle East and joins operations director, Andrew Mowat, and healthcare director, Elmutaz Elrabaa, as another senior figure to join this year.
Perkins+Will claims Smith has amassed more than a decade of work in the regional construction industry and has worked on projects such as Dubai Hills Estate and commercial offices for Dubai Trade Centre District, also known as One Central.
He started his career with a prominent UK contractor, before moving to the UAE in 2005, where he worked on Dubai Festival City Waterfront Centre.
In a statement on the appointment, Smith said he looked forward to kicking off the next chapter of his career by helping the business expand to Saudi Arabia.
“I am thrilled to join Perkins+Will, a company known and respected for delivering world-class design services globally across many end-markets and projects. I’m excited to be a part of Perkins+Will’s vision for growth, including expansion into Saudi Arabia.”
Managing director, Wilson, added: “Martin comes to us with a wealth of experience across multiple end-market developments and has an exceptional track record of executing prestigious projects in the region. I very much look forward to seeing what we can achieve together, and I’m sure his addition to the team will enable us to reach our growth targets in the region’s interior design space.”
