Abu Dhabi is moving into fifth gear by issuing roadwork and facilities permits to improve safety around construction sites in the emirate.

The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi said it is starting to issue permits to maintain the safety of roads in close proximity to building sites and ensure alternative routes are set up.

In a statement on Wam, ITC explained that its step was one part of its mission to set up an integrated road network to serve people living in the emirate.

Requests for roadwork or facilities permits should be submitted one month prior to day work starts, ICT said. This is to ensure alternative and temporary solutions are put in place to prevent traffic jams or unnecessary disruption on the roads.

Meanwhile, requests also need to be submitted along with “other requirements” to that ensure plans are compliant with traffic permit conditions.
