Johan Moolman has been named Project Manager of the Year at the Construction Week Awards 2018.
Moolman, from UAE construction giant ALEC, was praised by judges for his ability to successfully manage challenging projects, such as Dubai Airport and The Address Dubai Marina. Judges were deeply impressed with his track record for delivering high-profile projects on time and within budget.
Moolman picked up the Highly Commended award in the same category in 2016.
Peter Richardson from WSP Middle East won the Highly Commended Project Manager award for 2018, thanks to his work alongside clients, contractors, and consultants on major projects including Expo 2020 Dubai metro stations and Zayed National Museum.
Project Manager of the Year is a fiercely contested category and some of the biggest names in the business made the ten-person shortlist. Alongside Moolman and Richardson, finalists include Ajay Joseph Mangara, Turner & Townsend; Angel Antonio Santiago Gonzalez of Ramboll; VX Studio's Balkrishan Singh; Darren Denikiewicz from WME Global; Khalil Ayyoub at Compass Project Management; Hoehler + alSalmy's Mautasim Ali Al Kindi; Neal Coote, Parsons; and Carillion Alawi's Sujin Kurup.
The eight judges for Construction Week Awards 2018 were given a difficult choice to select a project manager who demonstrated best-in-class organisational ability, strong operational capabilities, and a top track record of delivering complex projects. Considering the names on this shortlist, this was an unenviable task.
Construction Week Awards 2018 were supported by Gold Sponsors ALEC, ASGC, Arabtec, and Al Naboodah; Silver Sponsors Future Metro, Unimix, and WME Consultants; Category Sponsors Construction Computer Software, Acrow, JLG, and Ramboll; returning Social Media Partner, WSP; Content Partner UGC Factory; and Post-Event Celebration Sponsor, Bam International.
