All six of the shortlisted companies have reported major contract wins and project updates in 2018. This June, Efeco, a subsidiary of Arabtec Holding, announced it had won a $31.8m (AED117m) MEP contract to work on real estate giant Emaar’s Creek Horizon Plot 19 in Dubai. In the same month, Nasdaq Dubai-listed Depa Limited reported winning a $21.7m (AED81.9m) fit-out contract for a “significant transport project” in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh.
Al Shirawi Contracting, one of the many engineering businesses within Al Shirawi Group that is led by chief executive officer Navin Valrani, has also had a successful run in 2018. By May 2019, among the local projects that Al Shirawi Group’s construction companies will complete include a waterproofing contract for Emaar’s Il Primo and Address Residences at Dubai’s Opera District. Al Shirawi Contracting will deliver this contract.
ALEC Fitout has been similarly busy in 2018, with projects such as Drift Restaurant & Beach Club, Bvlgari Resort’s spa, Galvins Restaurant, and Marina Gate’s Tower 1 in Dubai. In the portfolio of HPBS, meanwhile, are Dubai construction and real estate projects that have been in the news for much of 2018, such as The Opus, Green Community – Motor City Expansion, Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, Palm Tower hotel and residences, Expo 2020 Dubai, Deira Islands, Dubai Arena, Hayat Townhouses, and Enterprise Command and Control Centre (EC3).
