Giles Hannah has been appointed group chief commercial officer of RAK Properties, joining the team from developer Dubai Properties.

Hannah will lead RAK Properties' sales administration teams, taking responsibility for sales, leasing, and marketing of the developer's real estate portfolio.

The Ras Al Khaimah-based developer's repertoire includes a $1.3bn (AED5bn) flagship development called Hayat Island, an 81ha project set to become the northern emirate's entertainment centre.

Before joining RAK Properties, Hannah was responsible for international sales and business strategy at Dubai Holding's subsidiary, Dubai Properties.

Hannah said he was "proud" to join a developer such as RAK Properties, which he called a "pioneer real estate organisation" with a burgeoning reputation that extends beyond the UAE.

"I am delighted to be taking the helm, especially at such an exciting time in the firm’s legacy, and I look forward to strengthening this legacy as we move forward together," he said.

Hannah is a business management graduate from the University of Westminster, London. This year he completed a short course at  the University of Oxford in the psychology of business leadership.

He has previously worked with Saudi Arabian-based property developer Cayan Group, the company behind Cayan Tower in Dubai Marina, and numerous other real estate firms in London, before moving to the UAE.

Commenting on the appointment, managing director of RAK Properties, Mohammad Sultan Al Qadi, said: “Giles brings with him a wealth of experience in real estate management, and we are thrilled to welcome him to our management team.

“RAK Properties will continue to lead the region in the development of flagship properties, and we wish Giles every success in his new role as group chief commercial officer.”
