Welcome to the ninth Construction Week Power 100, our annual ranking of the most influential individuals working within the Middle East’s construction sector.
The Power 100 brand – which includes a special edition of the magazine, year-round web coverage, and a direct-to-YouTube collection of videos – has established itself as a celebration of those most influential in shaping the future of the Middle East’s cities.
The last 12 months have been a period of change for the regional construction sector – as governments seek growth through diversified investments, the Middle East’s construction leaders have also had to devise more efficient and intelligent ways of delivering their products and services.
The individuals profiled in this issue are those who are not only adapting to these evolving market demands, but also paving the way for their contemporaries to follow – be it through the use of disruptive technology or by returning to business basics, such as realistically priced contracts. Regardless, all members of this year’s Power 100 are unified not only by their determination to succeed, but by a business acumen that makes them stand out from the crowd in a competitive market.
At the heart of all construction work are contractors, and the 2018 Power 100 – as the CW brand is known – recognises the role they play in ensuring the industry’s health. As such, this list is dominated by contracting leaders, but also represents the clients and consultants that are equally essential for engineering excellence in the region.
The individuals included in the 2018 Power 100 – and their respective positions – have been selected based on publicly available information and details submitted directly to CW.
The editorial team has spent months engaged in heated discussions about who deserves to be featured, and in what order. The final rankings reflect our collective decision, which was made based on the most pertinent information available.
Nevertheless, this list is, to some extent, subjective, in that it attempts to capture and quantify the abstract concept of ‘influence’. While we have taken great pains to remain as objective as possible, it’s important to note that other opinions are available.
With this in mind, if you feel that you, or any of your colleagues, have been overlooked in the 2018 list, then please get in touch with us. The CW team is always on the lookout for fresh faces making moves and driving impressive changes in the Middle East’s construction market. Who knows? You might well make the cut next year.
