Dubai Properties’ 1/JBR residential building in Dubai is now around 40% complete, with the contractor completing one floor per week.
The project, which broke ground in March 2016, is moving at a rapid pace and is on track for a Q4 2019 completion, Martin Baerschmidt, founding partner and managing director of Edge, the lead consultant and design architect of the project, told Construction Week in an interview last week.
“We are now on level 17 with the core and level 15 with the full slabs, so in terms of overall construction, much of the podium is already done,” Baerschmidt said.
“The superstructure is maybe more than half way done and we are starting with the finishes inside, from outdoors, the ceilings are in place, and a lot of the MEP is in place.
“The finishes are starting to come on board now with the glass curtain wall and the front façade coming in soon,” he added.
The 46-storey 1/JBR will be the only residential building along Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach Residences with direct beach access exclusive to its residents.

In a written statement, a spokesperson from Dubai Properties told Construction Week: “1/JBR’s private beachfront access and minimalistic design will further cement Dubai Properties’ reputation for being a visionary master developer in the UAE, as well as continue to establish Jumeirah Beach Residence as an iconic mixed-use community.
“As of April 24, 2018, slabs have been cast to the 13th floor and block work is progressing up to the 9th floor. Finishing work is being carried out on both, basement and podium levels,” the statement added.
Dubai Properties (DP) awarded Dubai Contracting Company (DCC) the main contract for 1/JBR in February 2017.
WSP has been appointed as the structural and MEP engineer and architect of record for the project.
