Enabling and shoring work on the 54-storey, five-star hotel, Sabah Rotana, has been completed, according to developer RSG International.
The work was carried out by Al Rabat Building Contracting Company LLC, alongside an on-site ground crew. Additional excavation work is now underway in order to “avoid any delay” to the RSG’s “landmark hospitality project”, the Indian-owned business said in a statement.
Al Asri Engineering Consultants, project designer for Sabah Rotana, has worked with various project stakeholders to ensure construction work to date remained on track for to open in time for Expo 2020 Dubai.
Raj Sahni, founder and chairman of RSG, said he was “pleased with the progress” of Sabah Rotana, admitting he was confident the business could deliver the 536-room hotel before the start of Expo 2020 Dubai in October.
The hotel is being built in Sufouh Gardens on Sheikh Zayed Road and the property is a collaboration between RSG and Abu Dhabi-based hotel operator Rotana.
The “lofty hotel” includes three meeting rooms and an executive lounge, complementing the array of guest facilitates, which includes one presidential and several executive suites, as well as bars, restaurants, three nightclubs and a rooftop area. A gym, a swimming pool, and a wellness lounge will also be in the finished hotel.
Architecturally, the Sabah Rotana has been designed with “unconventional balconies” and tapered exterior walls to create ripple-like effect.
