Dubai Municipality has purchased 15 new environmentally-friendly machines to clean Dubai's streets.

The equipment, which runs on electricity, has been designed according to the latest international standards and the highest approved specifications.

The e-vacuum cleaners generate lower noise levels and produce near negligible carbon emissions as compared to conventional equipment previously used, Dubai Municipality said.

Eng. Abdul Majeed Saifaie, director of Waste Management Department, said that the move is part of the Municipality's keenness to improve waste management processes to enhance the opportunities for accomplishing futuristic municipality work in the field of sustainable environmental management of waste in Dubai.

“We have imported 15 new vacuum cleaners that save a lot of time in carrying out field cleaning tasks. The vacuum cleaners have a high capacity of about 240 liters,” Saifaie said.

Additional features include energy saving along with night lights and warning panels installed on the front and rear.

The vacuum cleaners have a range of up to 16 hours.
