The new passenger terminal at Muscat International Airport will commence operations on 20 March, 2018, a ministry official has revealed.

According to Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications, 32 operational tests were conducted on more than 10 facilities to confirm the readiness of all the terminal’s systems.

These tests reportedly involved the participation of nearly 6,200 volunteers, as well as the simulation of more than 500 flights.

All arriving and departing flights will eventually be transferred from the current airport to the new facility once it is fully operational, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported, citing a statement from the ministry.
