Why is it important that you support the CW Awards 2017?
We view CW Awards 2017 as a premier industry event that recognises and rewards individual excellence and project successes in the Middle East.
The CW Awards 2017 is an ideal platform for Ramboll to showcase its services and broaden our image and visibility among our target markets.
What do you think are the main challenges facing the construction industry in 2017?
The main challenges in 2017 have been very similar to those in 2016.
We have a very competitive arena especially with regards to competition in fees together with project delays after protracted tendering.
The challenge is to demonstrate to clients a unique offering through both excellence in design and a more personal service.
How would you rate the GCC construction industry’s performance in 2017?
We have witnessed a lower number of projects being awarded and the tightening of budgets, which has lead to an increased level of competition.
Governments are spending less on projects, yet the market has seen some major opportunities announced in the latter part of 2016 with varying scales of complexity from how to deliver critical infrastructure for Expo 2020 Dubai through to the implications of the National Transformation Plan in Saudi Arabia.
How do you expect the Gulf’s construction sector to perform in 2018?
There are many drivers in the region that will generate projects in the construction sector.
However, we expect levels for consultancy to be similar to 2017.
But we also anticipate the trend of more private sector participation in the development of significant construction projects to continue, with a steady appetite for construction companies to bring finance and take stakes in projects.
Please list the top three categories that you will look out for at the CW Awards 2017.
We will look out for the Consultancy of the Year and the Engineer of the Year categories.
