RSG International has announced that its Burj Sabah project was able to successfully meet Dubai Municipality’s green building requirements during the design stage.
The UAE-based developer said in a statement that it opted for EHS in-house certification, where it earned 49 points, scoring highly in energy and water savings, as well as materials used with recycled content, regional materials used, and reduction in sewage conveyance.
Located in Jumeirah Village Circle, the 19-storey building will comprise studio apartments, in addition to one- and two-bedrooms apartments. It is scheduled to complete by February 2019.
RSG revealed that the project’s design provides for an optimised parking structure to encourage carpooling among residents.

The company added that in a bid to conserve energy, water, and material resources, a number of measures were implemented during the design stage, including ensuring the right orientation for the building, prescribing the use of efficient glazing, and incorporating skylights.
Burj Sabah will also boast efficient lighting design and controls, water-cooled centrifugal chillers, low-flow fixtures on sinks and showers, and dual-flush water closets.
The company noted that it aims to maximise resource conservation by employing building materials with recycled content, and give the regional market a boost by primarily sourcing materials from regional suppliers.
The indoor environmental quality (IEQ) performance of the building reportedly complies with ASHRAE guidelines. RSG also has plans to develop and implement an indoor air quality (IAQ) management plan, in accordance with SMACNA guidelines.
Adhesives, sealants, paints, and coatings that will be used on the project will be low-VOC, while carpets will be CRI-certified, RSG added.
