The construction and property development sectors are attracting most of the top talent in the UAE, according to a new report.

In the latest Middle East Job Index Survey, Bayt.com revealed that almost 64% of employers in the UAE plan to hire within the next year, with almost half, or 48%, of all GCC employers planning to hire this year.

The construction industry, along with real estate and property development, were the most attractive job markets in the UAE according to 31% of the employers surveyed. The sectors were also ranked the highest in terms of talent retention, the survey showed.

Suhail Masri, vice president of employer solutions, Bayt.com, said: “In the UAE, the hiring forecast shows a continuation of a strong job market, with nearly seven in 10 UAE employers planning to hire within the next year and more than one in two planning to hire within three months.

“We have also seen that more than a third (36%) of those planning to hire in the UAE within three months are looking to hire for more than five job roles.”

In regards to the industries attracting or retaining the top national talent, the construction, real estate, and property development sectors formed 23% of all hires applying for jobs in the emirates.

In terms of academic qualifications, 32% of the employers surveyed are looking to hire engineering graduates or post graduates, with business management qualifications coming out on top with 33%.
