The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has announced that it is set to inaugurate a new training centre in Dubai.

In a statement, the organisation said that it will be hosting a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for its Global Training Center for Building Excellence on 19 September, 2017.

According to the Atlanta-headquartered organisation, the facility will focus on making curricula-based, region-specific training available on a regular schedule.

The centre will reportedly offer training that is “customised and scalable based upon climate, culture, suppliers, energy sources, prices, codes, and construction practices”, and delivered by instructor engineers “familiar with the intricacies of the Middle East”.

Bjarne Olesen, president of ASHRAE, commented: “The ASHRAE Global Training Center in Dubai is a tangible step toward our goal of extending our global community to better embrace our industry’s shared needs and objectives.

“By creating this training centre, our members in the Middle East will be more empowered to continue producing and sharing technical guidance worldwide while being better equipped to serve the needs of their local communities.”

The society also revealed that its inaugural training course – HVAC Design Essentials – will run from 10 to 13 September, 2017.

The course will provide participants with practical skills and knowledge that can help them design and maintain HVAC systems, and will be eligible for Professional Development Hours (PDHs), added ASHRAE.
