Viceroy Dubai Jumeirah Village hotel and residences is 40% complete.

Dubai-based real estate and hospitality group, SKAI, has released a statement saying that it is on track to open the $348.4m (AED1.28bn) development in 2018. 

According to SKAI, China State Construction Engineering Corporation Middle East (CSCEC ME), the project’s main contractor, has completed the structural works, partition and block walls, and MEP works up to level 19. A show mock-up wing, comprising a two-bedroom and one-bedroom apartment and two hotel rooms, is also now available for viewing.

Nabil Akiki, CEO of Real Estate Development of SKAI, commented: “Completing 40% of the Viceroy Dubai Jumeirah Village marks a significant milestone for us, and demonstrates our pledge to complete this project on time in spite of the fire last August. We have recovered much faster than expected and remain committed to opening in Q4 2018.

Yu Tao, president and CEO of CSCEC ME, added: “Over the course of the next year, we will be pushing ahead to complete the structural works for one floor a week, ensuring we are on track to welcome homeowners and guests in Q4 2018.”

Once complete, the award-winning Viceroy Dubai Jumeirah Village will comprise 247-hotel rooms and suites, 221 one- and two-bedroom hotel apartments, and 33 four-bedroom hotel apartments, all equipped with private pools and Jacuzzis.

The 60-storey tower will reportedly feature breathable architecture that allows sunlight in and a vertical microclimate design, with more than 500,000m2 of flora. The tower will also feature balcony-gardens and sky-high swimming pools, Jacuzzis, floating bathtubs, floor-to-ceiling windows, and panoramic views of the city.

SKAI, which conceptualised the design of the property and has now patented and registered it as a trademark in 186 countries, said it plans to replicate similar structures in other major gateway cities.
