Jebel Ali Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant has secured three ISO certificates pertaining to its integrated management systems.
The facility, which forms part of the Dubai Municipality (DM) Waste Management Department, has been awarded Quality Management Systems ISO 9001:2015, Environmental Management Systems ISO 14001:2015, and Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems (OHSAS) 18001:2007.
Eng Abdul Majid Sifaie, DM’s director of waste management, stated that the certificates have been approved by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the Dubai Accreditation Centre (DAC).
“This achievement will enhance the application of the clear vision of the [Waste Management Department] on its march with steady pace to achieve its strategic objectives,” Sifaie explained.
“It has contributed to the achievement of many benefits, the most important of which is the acquisition of more skills and knowledge for employees and the improvement of the services provided to customers.”
Sifaie added that the ISO certification would help Jebel Ali Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant to maintain its safe and collaborative working environment.
“[It will] activate the concept of teamwork, and enhance the outstanding performance of employees to achieve effective management within the global levels of occupational health and safety, and quality management,” he concluded.
