Tadmur Contracting, a subsidiary of Tadmur Holding has earned a Gold LEED Certification for its Evergreen building.
The building’s Gold LEED Certification was achieved after having met the stringent standards related to energy and environmental design, in compliance with LEED of the United States Green Building Council (USBGC) requirements.
Located within Energy City Qatar (ECQ), a site connected to the wider Lusail development, the project is also in compliance with the strict environment-friendly, Green Building guidelines and GSAS issued for all constructions within ECQ.
Tadmur Contracting is the first contracting firm to have earned the second highest LEED rating within ECQ and one of only three such companies to have done so throughout Qatar.
“The revival of the construction boom in Qatar and across the region has presented serious environmental issues and concerns,” said Dafer Mustafa Hallawa, CEO of Tadmur Holding. “However, our strong commitment towards sustainable development drives us to implement projects that strictly complies with and adheres to Global Green Building and environment-friendly quality and standards.
“At the same time, our assurance of delivering quality excellence in design and construction is an integral part of our corporate responsibility to the present and future generations of the state of Qatar and community” he added. “We are therefore proud of this achievement and vow to earn even more LEED certifications for our upcoming projects.”
The Evergreen building is owned and developed by Tadmur Holding and will be operated and maintained by OCS Qatar, another subsidiary of the holding company.
Tadmur Contracting implemented and constructed a design for the project that helps reduce carbon footprint and cuts utility bills.
Among its key environment-friendly features, a water re-use system that results in reduced water consumption, 50% less potable water use for building conveyance through high-efficiency fixtures, an indoor environment quality performance plan that meets the minimum requirement of ASHRAE 62-1999, storage and collection facilities for recyclables, photo-voltaic cells/solar panels suitably located on the roof for 15-20% savings on energy and landscape lighting that comply with LEED light pollution reduction standards.
With a plot area of 7,044m², the Evergreen building has total built-up area of 21,566m², comprising a ground floor, mezzanine, and three floors, as well as two basement parking area with 234 parking slots, 42 bicycle racks and five motorcycle racks. It also has four elevators for the public and one service elevator.
In addition to Tadmur Contracting, other Tadmur Holding’s subsidiaries who contributed to this achievement are, TAKYEEF Electromechanical, Tadmur Logistics, Tadmur Trading, Tadmur Roofs & Pools, OCS Qatar, Norwood Qatar, Arabian Supplies and Roots Energy & Engineering Services.
